Turku, Finland – 11 April 2018 – Original Sokos Hotel Kaarle has deployed the Smartroom TV solution from Hibox to provide guests with modern, online TV and interactive services. Utilizing an All-IP HTV solution from Teleste and Samsung enabled the hotel to equip guest rooms with IP connectivity required for the deployment—without the time and cost of pulling new cabling.

Teleste Corporation provided the All-IP hotel TV solution in partnership with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. The deployment to the four-star hotel, which features 160 guest rooms and suites, was carried out by Hibox alongside the installation of the Hibox Smartroom. This solution offers guests a modern, digital TV experience and supports hotel staff by streamlining the management of daily operations.

“We were excited to cooperate with Hibox and Samsung in helping Hotel Kaarle provide their guests with a delightful digital experience. In addition to offering smart, interactive services for guests, they can now empower their staff with easier management of tasks such as check-in, check-out, maintenance, and cleaning. The jointly created Teleste and Samsung All-IP hotel TV solution is designed to help hospitality operators embrace innovation by enabling a smooth transition to IP connectivity—even in buildings where re-cabling is not a preferred option,”
Jason Dando, Director of Hospitality and AV Solutions, Teleste Corporation

Deploying the cloud-hosted Smartroom requires an IP network connection in every guest room. For Hotel Kaarle, this connectivity was achieved using Teleste and Samsung’s All-IP HTV solution, which enables gigabit-level, robust IP connectivity over existing TV aerial cabling. This makes it possible for hotels to offer a premium in-room experience without needing to install new cabling.

“This combination of Teleste’s DOCSIS solution and Samsung’s smart hotel TVs with built-in modems allows us to deliver digital experiences that guests have never seen before over coax cabling. The in-room installation is elegant—no extra cables or boxes. Guests can cast their own content to the TV and enjoy fast cloud streaming through a rock-solid data connection built on regular coax networks. This is a game-changer for the up to 90% of hotels that lack fixed network connections in rooms,”
Mathias Johnson, VP Product, Hospitality at Hibox

Based on proven DOCSIS technology, the All-IP HTV solution uses Teleste’s DAH100 mini-CMTS on the hotel premises and Samsung HE694 Series Hospitality TVs with built-in DOCSIS modems in each room. No other hardware is required, making the solution fast to install while ensuring seamless internet, Wi-Fi, and TV services without outages or interference.

“We’ve tried several TV systems over the years, and there have always been issues with our legacy coax infrastructure. We installed the Hibox solution with Samsung DOCSIS TVs in October 2017, and it’s the most reliable and user-friendly system we’ve seen. The performance is surprisingly fast,”
Roy Känsälä, Technical Serviceman, Hotel Kaarle

“Switching from a traditional to an IPTV system has never been easier. Thanks to Samsung's All-IP HTV HE694 and Teleste’s DOCSIS CMTS, it’s now possible within a day or two—without losing hotel revenue, rewiring the whole premise, or disturbing guests. Moreover, Hibox’s technological expertise and close partnership with Samsung made the IPTV system easy to install and smoothly deploy across all rooms,”
